Technical Standards
Over the years CHEM has produced a number of standards for waste equipment which have been widely accepted throughout the industry. CHEM standards have set down dimensional information for the correct matching of various types of waste container to the equipment required to handle them. There are currently sixteen CHEM Technical Standards available dealing, in the main, with the issues of dimensional interfacing of various types of container with the equipment supplied by CHEM members.

Legal
The Container Handling Equipment Manufacturers association (CHEM) will not be held liable for any accident, injury or loss allegedly incurred from following information supplied by the organisation or its members.
CHEM is an advisory body not a Statutory body. It is the manufacturers or operators’ responsibility to satisfy themselves through calculation, testing and reference to Statutory Bodies (e.g. British Standards Institution and Health and Safety Executive) that containers and handling equipment is designed and manufactured in accordance with legislation.
CHEM provide information in the form of Technical Standards, Guides and on Website intended to enable compatibility between containers and associated lifting equipment and to suggest safe operating practices. This information is taken from the considerable manufacturing and operating experience of members, drawings etc. are for illustration of attachment and safety features and must not be considered as constructional drawings.
